Matching Grant #66278 Schoolbuses - no, School Boats Sullerpet, India |
|
This project funded the purchase of two boats and two shelters to protect the students while they wait for the boats. In this region of coastal India about 3,000 people live on Irrakam Island, but there is no school on the island. Approximately 70-80 children travel by boat to the mainland to attend school every day. The boats that have been used are primarily fishing boats and privately operated. The local Rotarians want to buy better boats and shelters to protect the boats. A trust will hire pilots to operate the boats. |
