Clean Water Project
La Casitas Community
Pimienta, Honduras

La Casitas Community on the outskirts of Pimienta, Honduras has about 750 residents in small homes. Although a huge water tank is nearby, the residents do not have access to the clean water, instead receiving their water from a dilapidated, contaminated small tank and hauling it by bucket to their homes.

This project funded the installation of a main water pipe to bring clean water to approximately 350 of the residents from a nearby large water storage tank. This project was sponsored locally by the Rotary Club of San Pedro Sula, Honduras and sponsored internationally by the Rotary Club of Webster Groves, Missouri. Additional funding was provided by Rotary District 4250-Honduras, District 6060-eastern Missouri, District 6460-western Illinois, The Rotary Foundation, and the Clean Water for Coffee Producing Countries Donor Advised Fund. Significant planning and implementation work was provided by the cooperating organization, Gateway Professional Partners chapter of Engineers Without Borders. Several volunteers from EWB traveled to the project site to do project planning, returning to help with construction, and returning again for follow-up and planning for the next project to continue helping the local community.

This was a nearly $28,000 project.
