Cataract Surgery Project
Rotary Club of Dharmavaram Midtown, India D3160

This matching grant project funded 1,200 eye surgeries where cataracts were removed and intra-ocular lenses placed, giving "Rotary's Gift of Sight" to 1,200 poor people in the south central region of India. As screening occurs during this project, many diabetic patients and young patients are found who need to be implanted with foldable intraocular lenses to minimize post operative complications and then for subsequent surgeries. We will fund at least 100 of these surgeries as part of the 1,200 total.

In addition to the Rotary Club of Dharmavaram Midtown, Andhra Pradesh, India and District 3160, other funding partners are the Blindness Prevention Donor Advised Fund of the Blindness Prevention Rotary Action Group, Rotary District 6060 in eastern Missouri, District 6460-western Illinois, D6510 in southern Illinois and Rotary District 6540 in northern Indiana, USA. The project sponsors are the Rotary Clubs of Dharmavaram Midtown, D3160 and Poplar Bluff, Missouri, D6060.
