Artificial Limb Project

This project will assist nearly 100 poor people around Cochin, in the state of Kerala, India who are afflicted with diabetes and need artificial limbs, wheelchairs, special shoes, crutches or other aids.  

This project was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Greater Cochin, Kerala, India and the Rotary Club of Piedmont, Missouri, with additional funds coming from Rotary District 3201-India and District 6060-Missouri. This was a $10,000 project.

The planning budget for this project estimated it would fund:

• 30 artificial limbs of various designs
• approximately 10 pairs of surgical half shoe
• 5 folding wheelchairs
• 5 sets of crutches
• 15 sets of full-length silicone insoles

The project is inaugurated at a camp where beneficiaries are selected.
