    COFFEE SALES FUNDRAISER

This program has been developed by Cape Girardeau Rotarian Bill Prost, a former Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholar. Bill is a Sales Research expert and also has many years of experience working in the premium coffee business.

The Coffee Fundraiser is now available to all US Rotary clubs that are interested. This is a fundraising program offering four varieties of premium coffee for sale by Rotary clubs. Clubs buy the coffee for $7 a bag and sell it for $10 a bag and keep the entire $3 a bag as profit. Built into the $7 a bag cost to the clubs is the Rotary licensing fee and also a donation to the Clean Water for Coffee Producing Countries Donor Advised Fund, as well as the shipping to the participating club. Additionally, all coffee purchased from now through December 2010 will include an extra $1.00 contribution to the Clean Water Donor Advised Fund.

During the 2009-2010 Rotary year, the Donor Advised Fund received $50,000 from Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Foundation and District 6060 Rotarians managed to spend $49,920 of that on six water projects in Bolivia, Haiti, Honduras, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda bringing clean water to well over 10,000 people. (More Info on the 2009-2010 water projects) Projections are that we will raise $100,000 or more for the Clean Water DAF this year!

The Green Mountain Coffee Company is our coffee source and we have four great varieties of coffee available:

          • House Blend
          • Sumatran Reserve
          • Rainforest Nut and
          • House Blend Decaf.

There are six bags per case and the minimum order is 4 cases = 24 bags = 24 x $7 = $168.   Larger orders are certainly welcome, in multiples of 4 cases.  It is not necessary to order 4 cases of one type, they can be mixed and matched in any multiple of four.

The Overland Rotary Club sold 150 bags last year in about six weeks at Christmas, and with about 70% of U.S. adults and perhaps 80% of Rotarians drinking coffee this is a fundraiser that can run in the background all year. It does not have to be run for one month or two months, but could be going on all the time, putting money into your club's treasury and providing more funds for clean water projects around the world.
