 James Durbin
Governor, 2016-2017


Jim Durbin began his jewelry business in 1978 as James Durbin Trading Company, wholesaling art and jewelry in the Midwest that he purchased while traveling throughout the American Southwest. In 1982, he settled in St. Louis and changed the business name to James Durbin Jewelry Design. By 1991 the business was relocated to Kirkwood and has since become known as the premier design and custom jewelry manufacturer and retailer in the St. Louis area.

Jim has earned teh Diamond Certificate from Gemological Institute of America and maintains membership in Jewelers of America, the American Gem Trade Association and the Midwest Jewelers Association. 

In addition to being a fixture professionally in the area, his many civic involvements include Kirkwood Special Business District Commissioner 1993-1996, President of the Rotary Club of Kirkwood 2009-2010 as well as many other chairs in various capacities. Martha and Jim Durbin were selected as Citizens of the Year by the Kirkwood Chamber of Commerce in 2006. James Durbin Jewelry Design has raised and donated over $20,000 to local charities and organizations.

Jim recently celebrated 20 years of marriage to Martha Durbin who is also committed to service and her community. She currently serves on the board of The Mary Culver Home for blind women and is a past member of The Farmers Market. Their son J.L. Durbin is a graduate of Southern Illinois University, works as a photojournalist in Midland, Texas and has now followed in his father's footsteps by becoming a Rotary Club members.
