2016-17 International Projects

Rwanda School Improvement Project

 The Matching Grant Program (1965-2010) and the new Global Grant program match contributions raised by Rotary clubs and districts for large international service projects involving Rotary clubs in two or more countries. Many clubs doubled the effectiveness of their efforts with these one-time grants of up to US$150,000. Our district has sponsored close to 150 Matching Grants from 2001 - 2010 and have done many Global Grants as well. Details about many of them can be linked to from the index above.

We are excited to announce a NEW Club International Matching Grant Program!  This program was developed by DG Jim and the Foundation Committee to address requests from our clubs who have made international contacts and who wish to support projects overseas that are not at the $30,000 minimum size of Global Grants.  
Please share this information with your club, and let us know if you have an international project in mind.  Here are the basics:

      WHEN:  Open application period is from NOW to SEPTEMBER 20, 2016.

      WHAT: Matching funds of up to $2,000 per project are available.  (Funds are limited--apply soon!)


  • Your club MUST have a partner club in the location of the project, who will assist you with oversight and stewardship in accomplishing the project. This club must be in good standing with Rotary International.
  • The matching funds are only for your club funds; we do not match donations from other organizations.
  • We have funds available to cover approximately 6 projects, so acceptable applications will be selected according to date received in complete form.
  • Your club must be Qualified to receive a grant (your President must have attended Grant Management Training.  Contact DRFC Kate Schwadron if you need to arrange for training now.)
  • The project must be short-term in nature; the completed report is due no later than 12 months from the date of fund disbursement.
  • The project must meet all requirements of The Rotary Foundation (see Terms and Conditions below).
  • Applications will be reviewed by the District 6060 Foundation Committee, and those approved will then be reviewed by The Rotary Foundation for final approval.
  • We will announce the club projects selected at the District Conference, on October 1.
